It was a 7 bedded hospital with an operation theater and staff of 8. With the concerted efforts of the team and the faith of the patients who visited the doctors, it started growing with each passing day.
Thus was born the idea of Janaki Natarajan Vision Research and Visual Rehabilitation Charities ! Named after his loving mother, Mrs.Janaki Natarajan, JNVR&VRC - the free section of M.N. Eye Hospital was started just within a year of starting the paying section. The vision was to provide quality eye care at absolutely no cost to anyone who wished to walk through those doors, including free cataract surgeries.
For the past 30 years, JNVR & VR Charities have been in the continual service of the community, providing the gift of sight, completely free of cost to over 1 lakh people till date in the form of cataract surgeries. More than 2 million people have been screened for vision disorders. It has been an immensely gratifying journey so far, and we wish to continue toiling in these efforts with the help of our generous donors and well-wishers. Together, we can all make a difference.
